Jen Ryan attended Springfield College for both her undergraduate studies and her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. During her time at Springfield, she also played lacrosse for four years.
Jen was inspired to become a physical therapist after her mother was involved in a serious car accident when Jen was younger. Her mother’s physical therapist focused on her goals and what she hoped to accomplish rather than the limitations others believed were possible. Through this approach, her mother made a full recovery that many thought would never happen. This experience shaped Jen’s belief in the power of individualized, patient-centered care.
Throughout her career, Jen has worked exclusively in inpatient settings, including hospital care and acute inpatient rehabilitation. Most recently, she worked in the neurological intensive care unit, where she focused on coordinating the brain injury program. She specializes in traumatic brain injury, particularly patients with disorders of consciousness (DOC), and has a passion for working with the neurological population as a whole. She values the opportunity to create individualized plans of care that reflect each patient’s unique needs and goals. Her other areas of experience include ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, brain tumor resection, spinal cord injury, Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS), and vestibular rehabilitation.
Outside of work, Jen enjoys going for runs, spending time with her pup, hiking, traveling, relaxing on Seneca Lake, and refereeing lacrosse games.
